Aswan

Aswan, the border between ancient Egypt and ancient Nubia - and the first place one had to pass cataracts in the Nile if one came all the way from the Mediterranean.
The ancient town was located on the Island Elephantine and was called Abu ("elephant"), and the temple constructions here date back to pre historic times (more than five thousand years ago).
